Coaching

For when you have an idea, but you need accountability to stay on track. Nothing sparks creativity like a deadline!

As your writing coach, I will walk with you through the outlining and writing process, help you hone in on your voice, and set deadlines that help you meet your goals. Coaching includes:

  • Free consultation to discuss your vision and see if we are a good fit.

  • First official coaching session to finalize your outline and make a writing plan. We will set deadlines and milestones that fit your schedule.

  • One 1-2 hour meeting per completed milestone. We will review your progress and discuss your strengths and areas for improvement as a writer.

  • One final meeting after your first draft is finished. (Hooray!) We will assess the current state of your work, and I’ll recommend next steps for the editorial process.

Rate: $70/hr

Developmental Editing

For when you’ve finished your first draft, and you’re ready to begin the editing process. Congrats—the first draft is the hardest part!

Developmental editing is the first phase of editing that addresses the full scope of your project at the chapter level. We will focus on structure, flow, story, and character development. This service includes:

  • One initial meeting to discuss the big-picture idea for your project and walk through an outline of your first draft.

  • A fully annotated draft of your project in a Microsoft Word or Google Document with my comments and suggestions for revision.

  • A one-page summary of my first impression of your project, what’s working, and my recommendations for improvement and next steps.

Rate: $50/hr at an average pace of 2,000 words per hour. (Pace may vary depending on the state of the content when it is received.)

Line Editing

For when your story is definitely done, but your sentences are definitely not. This is where we really capture your voice as an author.

Line editing exists at the paragraph and sentence level, focusing on style, phrasing, clarity, grammar, and tone. This service includes:

  • One initial meeting to discuss the outline of your draft, your characters, and your unique voice.

  • A fully annotated and edited draft of your project in a Microsoft Word or Google Document with comments and suggestions for revision. All changes made to the body of your work will be tracked, and it will be up to you to accept or reject them.

  • A short assessment of the current state of your work and recommendations for next steps.

Rate: $45/hr at an average pace of 1,250 words per hour. (Pace may vary depending on the state of the content when it is received.)

Copyediting

For when you’re satisfied with your work, but it could use some cleaning up. Sweep, sweep!

Copyediting exists at the sentence and word level, focusing on grammar, punctuation, spelling, and word choice. This service includes:

  • A fully edited draft of your project in a Microsoft Word or Google Document. All changes made to the body of your work will be tracked, and it will be up to you to accept or reject them.

  • A short assessment of the current state of your work and recommendations for next steps.

Rate: $45/hr at an average pace of 1,750 words per hour. (Pace may vary depending on the state of the content when it is received.)

Proofreading

For when you think you’re finished. (Hint: you’re not.) Everyone needs a proofreader!

Proofreading is the final phase of editing before layout and publishing. Proofreading exists at the word and character level, focusing on punctuation, spelling, and typos. This service includes:

  • A fully edited final draft of your project in a Microsoft Word or Google Document. All changes made to the body of your work will be tracked, and it will be up to you to accept or reject them.

Rate: $40/hr at an average pace of 2,500 words per hour. (Pace may vary depending on the state of the content when it is received.)
